I am a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC) practicing Relational Somatic Therapy (RST).
An extension of traditional counselling, RST is an experiential, therapeutic modality that supports clients to encounter old material in fresh ways, while keeping the relational field strong, safe, and robust. Informed by neuroscience, attachment theory, and trauma renegotiation work, RST uses the body as a resource to gather more information about our lived experiences, often through sensation, imagery, metaphor, and impulses. It also tends to the nervous system in present time, which helps build the awareness and capacity to stay with difficult emotions and states.
As a practitioner, I approach this work from a soulful, somatic lens that recognizes + encourages people's inherent wisdom and strengths. Through deep listening, active presence, and connection, I support clients to build a sense of embodied trust and inner kindness, which often leads to meaningful and sustainable shifts. While the work of therapy can be challenging, it can also be a place of powerful self-remembering, where joy, creativity, and vitality emerge. Together, we use this work to help steady, safeguard, and celebrate the unique version of wholeness that each of us inherently is.
I am grateful to work on Salt Spring Island, traditional territory of the SENĆOŦEN and Hul'qumi'num' speaking peoples, in the Comox Valley. traditional territory of the K’òmoks First Nations , and on Zoom.
I welcome you to reach out via my contact page with any questions, or to book a free 15 minute exploration call.
With care, Meghan
